Our commitment: United to Help One Another respects the privacy and dignity of every person who contacts us. We aim to collect only information reasonably needed to respond to requests, coordinate volunteers, document donations, and carry out our faith-based charitable mission.

1. Who We Are

United to Help One Another is a faith-based nonprofit organization serving people in need. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information submitted through our website at unitedtohelponeanother.org.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use our website, you may voluntarily provide information such as:

Name, email address, phone number, city, and state.
Information included in a Request Help submission, including the type of assistance requested and details you choose to provide about your situation.
Prayer requests and your privacy preference for that request.
Volunteer application information, including skills, availability, service interests, and reasons for volunteering.
Donation-record information such as donor name, contact information, amount, method, designation, and notes. Our website does not ask you to enter payment-card or bank-account numbers into the Donation Record form.

Our website hosting and form-processing providers may also receive ordinary technical information associated with a website visit or form submission, such as an IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, and security-related data.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information to review and respond to requests for help, pray for and follow up with people who submit prayer requests, review volunteer applications, communicate with you, maintain appropriate organizational records, document donation information, protect the website and our services from abuse, and carry out our charitable mission.

4. Prayer Requests and Sensitive Information

Prayer requests and requests for assistance may contain personal or sensitive details. Please provide only information that is reasonably necessary for us to understand your request. If you select a private prayer option, we will treat the request as intended for the people responsible for handling prayer requests and related follow-up, subject to the service providers needed to transmit and store the submission.

5. Service Providers and Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to service providers that help operate our website and process submissions, including Formspree for website forms and Vercel for website hosting. These providers process information according to their own terms, privacy practices, and security measures.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or respond to a lawful request. If our organization uses additional service providers in the future, this policy may be updated accordingly.

6. Form Submissions

Request Help, Prayer Request, and Volunteer Application submissions are transmitted through Formspree. Submissions may be stored in our Formspree account and may generate notification emails to our organization. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers, bank-account information, passwords, or other information that is not necessary for your request.

7. Donations and Payment Information

The current Donation Record feature is for recording donation information and does not itself process online payments. If we add an online payment processor in the future, payment information will be handled by that processor rather than collected directly by our website, and this policy will be updated as appropriate.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate organizational recordkeeping, or as required by law. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of submission. Information stored by a service provider may also be subject to that provider's retention practices.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. Our website uses HTTPS, and our form submissions are handled through a third-party form-processing service. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Cookies, Analytics, and Online Tracking

We do not currently use the website for targeted advertising or cross-site behavioral advertising. The website and its service providers may use essential technologies or technical logs needed to deliver, secure, and operate the site. If we later enable analytics, advertising, or additional tracking technologies, we will update this policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

11. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because we do not currently sell personal information or use the site for cross-site behavioral advertising, we do not offer a separate opt-out for those activities. Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not handled through a separate website setting. Where applicable law requires recognition of a legally valid browser-based privacy preference, we intend to honor that requirement.

12. Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13 for the purpose of collecting personal information. A child under 13 should not submit personal information through the website without a parent or legal guardian handling the submission on the child's behalf. If we learn that we collected personal information directly from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. Your Choices and Requests

You may contact us to ask about personal information you submitted to us, request a correction, or request deletion where appropriate. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may retain information when reasonably necessary or legally required.

14. California Privacy Information

California privacy laws may provide rights in certain circumstances. The California Consumer Privacy Act generally does not apply to nonprofit organizations, but United to Help One Another still aims to handle privacy requests responsibly and transparently. We do not sell personal information.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, services, or legal obligations change. When we make changes, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through an additional notice when appropriate.
